No Mountaineering Experience? No Problem!

You might think climbing a massive glacier-covered volcano is only for elite athletes. However, most CAO climbers start with absolutely zero mountaineering experience.

Each participant receives a tailored 16-week training program designed to build strength and endurance. This plan, known as the Alpine Adaptation Method, prepares your body step-by-step. Whether you live in flat terrain or near the hills, you will show up ready.

The 5-Day Mt. Shasta Adventure Itinerary

The expedition is structured to ensure maximum safety, learning, and camaraderie. Here is what your journey on the mountain looks like:

  • Day 1: Arrival & Gear Prep: Meet your team in the town of Mt. Shasta, pick up rental gear, and enjoy a welcome dinner.
  • Day 2: Hike to Base Camp & Snow School: Trek up to base camp at 10,400 feet. Here, expert guides teach you how to use crampons, ice axes, and self-arrest techniques.
  • Day 3: The Summit Push: Wake up at 1:00 AM for an alpine start. You will climb for 12 to 16 hours round trip, pushing past your limits to reach the magnificent peak.
  • Day 4: Descent & Celebration: Pack up camp, head back to the trailhead, and celebrate your achievements with a community dinner.
  • Day 5: Debrief & Departure: Enjoy a final breakfast with your new lifelong friends before heading home.
